About Sarah

Sarah J. Malcolm is the founder of Portage International Education Services & Advising, LLC, a premier career advising and consulting firm dedicated to career development, leadership advancement, and results-driven strategic planning across the higher education sector and beyond. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Ms Malcolm has spearheaded strategic planning, forged institutional partnerships with over 60 countries, and enhanced advising and support services for international students. Her own transformative study abroad experience fuels her commitment to safe, impactful programming.
Throughout her career she has mentored and advised numerous professionals at all career stages toward impactful career development and advancement. She has a strong track record for building and leading high performing teams and her reputation for professionalism and strategic insight makes her a sought-after advisor.
Most recently she was awarded the 2024 Ohio International Consortium Member Spotlight Award in honor of her leadership in developing the Introduction to International Education Workshop Series for underrepresented students from all around the state of Ohio to learn about careers in international education.
Ms Malcolm is a life-long learner and has completed programs in leadership development, coaching, project management, and intercultural communication. She earned her master’s degree in Spanish Literature and her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Kent State University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in English Literature with a focus on Caribbean writers. She is also the owner of Organized by Polly, LLC, a professional organizing and productivity consulting business. Through Portage International Education Services & Advising, she is dedicated to helping organizations improve their operations, as well as advising individuals about their professional development.
